Welcome Beautiful Beloved,
Today, as women of faith, we are going to choose to Rise Up because we have been Chosen!
Yes, dear sister, YOU have been chosen and you are going to find out why this makes you so special!
Here @Getlifespiration, our mission is to Inspire, Encourage and Motivate you to Rise Up and choose to live your God-given purpose daily, Just like the Proverbs 31 Woman of Valour. Be strong and of Good Courage, the Lord your God is with you!
Eeny, meenie, miney mo, catch a tiger by the toe, if he hollers let him go…..
My mother says to pick the very best one and you are not it!
My boys were fighting over who was going to unload the dishwasher... again. My husband Dave figured this random rhyme would solve the issue in a snap, and both boys wanted to be “not it” so they wouldn’t have to unload the dishwasher. Well, after some frustrating arguing, Dave ended up choosing them both for the privilege of unloading the dishwasher.
Sometimes in our faith walk, we don’t always react graciously to being chosen by God. We wonder why he has chosen us for a certain task and we drag our heels.
However, there are also times when we want to be chosen so badly! Where we look at others in their faith walk, and wonder when God is going to choose us to do something special!
I can think of putting on one of my musical productions, and how excited the students were to see the cast list posted after auditions, hoping and praying that they would be chosen for the leading roles…
Well, whether you’re excited or dragging your feet, I want you to know that you are chosen!
In Ephesians chapter one, verses 3-5, we see how God has chosen US for a very special role.
“3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
Wow, do you hear this beloved? You have been chosen before the foundation of the world! Before God set the stars into motion, before water and air were a thought in His mind, you were chosen. Why? Because God LOVED YOU!
Chosen, or (eklegomai), means to be picked-out and selected for one self. I don’t know about you, but when given the chance, I love to shop! I especially love handmade markets where everything is unique and thoughtfully made. I love looking at handmade jewelry, and browsing through the pieces to carefully choose one special item for me. Something about the piece stands out, and I choose it because it is beautiful and unique to me. I like to think of God looking at us as beautiful and unique as well, and choosing us because he sees something special.
I’m reminded of a popular Christian sticker that says, “Jesus Loves You (but I’m His Favorite)”. Now, I know this saying is a little cheeky, but isn’t it nice to see ourselves as a first pick? As the favorite one? It’s incredible that God’s all-encompassing love is so wide, so far, so high, and so deep that we can’t even begin to grasp the enormity of it!
You are not an afterthought. You are not the last choice when picking teams. You are not a mistake. You are not forgotten or left out with God. You are part of the “in” crowd in God’s Kingdom.
We are chosen for very clear reasons. Paul says in this passage we are
*Chosen to be Holy
*Chosen to be without blame in God’s eyes
*Chosen in Love
*Chosen to be adopted as sons and daughters of God (through Jesus)
When we are chosen, we have a role to play. First we see we are chosen to be HOLY. What does this look like? This means we are set apart and dedicated or consecrated to God. We are to be blameless. Fortunately, we can achieve this, not through our efforts, but because we are redeemed through Jesus, BUT we must also live and believe that we are set apart, and choose to live this way.
When we are chosen, we also find out we are blessed with every spiritual blessing! Why? Because we have an inheritance through Jesus!
Ephesians 1:11 (NLT) says:
Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
An inheritance is a blessing because you don’t have to work for it. It is a gift that is passed down from your parents because of the work they did. In a perfect situation, there are no strings attached, and it is something to be enjoyed. In the same way we get to appreciate our inheritance of Spiritual blessings because of Jesus! Jesus did the work, he paid the price so we could have the most amazing inheritance of all! We get to be children of God and gain the keys to the kingdom as sons and daughters, adopted through Jesus Christ.
Do you believe that you are a legitimate daughter of God? That you are deserving of the inheritance God is holding out for you? That you have been chosen, and that you are special? That you are more precious than any jewel?
I want to share a fun story as we wrap up today.
My husband and I chose to go to Las Vegas for a “baby moon” when we were expecting our second son, Cyrus. We wanted to get away and have a little vacation before everything got crazy. We decided to book tickets to go and see a magic show. Now, as you might know, in most magic shows the magician likes to select an audience member to be a part of demonstrating his tricks. For some reason, the spotlight landed on me, and I was called up to the stage. I was asked to choose a picture to be drawn on a piece of paper that was torn up, locked in a box and lifted high into the rafters. The magician then proceeded to “magically” find this piece of paper, by pulling it out of an orange, and unfolding it all in one piece. When the locked box was opened, the paper was gone, proving he didn’t have a second piece of paper hidden away. The audience was amazed and so was I!
What does this fun story have to do with God choosing us? Well, I’m going to pull a fun parallel here, so bare with me. God is like the magician. He has something cool, magical and unbelievable planned. He could do the “trick” all by himself, but would that be any fun? No! He wants us to come out of the audience. He is asking us to get out of our seat and up onto the stage to be part of the show. He wants us to be a part of the process because that is what makes the experience amazing. Our participation, our delight and our amazement extends the glory and praise that God truly deserves.
Because, really, if you think about it, God doesn’t need us, does he? However, he LOVES us! He LOVES you! And he has chosen you because he has amazing things in store for you. Take part in your spiritual inheritance today. Rise up and be blessed!
